Senior Credit Analyst

SS SUMMARY
Commercial and Agribusiness Senior Credit Analyst is responsible to analyze various historical and projected financial statements of individuals and businesses to identify the degree of risk involved in extending credit. The findings are presented into a detailed report for approval or denial by executive management and/or loan committees. The report includes cash flow analysis, ratio analysis, thorough industry and market analysis, well defined sensitivity analysis, and determination of credit risk in accordance with bank policy and direction of the Chief Credit Officer. Work is closely managed and the individual gains exposure to other complex tasks within the job function. Will liaison with other departments regarding lending activities and other duties as directed by management.
Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Exposure to complex analysis and tasks related to credit analysis and portfolio management. Prepare portfolio analysis reporting as directed by Credit Manager or Credit Officer for the Board of Directors and Compliance Management. Exposure to watch list assets, problem loan status reports, and portfolio management. Obtains loan request information from lender or borrower to analyze credit information, financial statements and other related information pertaining to the loan request. Research background documentation and reviews personal and business financial statements and tax returns. Analyzes financial information and prepares the primary analysis for the lender. Communicates with lenders to obtain financial statements on existing borrowers to ensure proper analysis is complete. Review financials and analyze customer information. Prepare a clear and concise loan memorandum for approval/denial of credit requests. Analyzes loan data on new, renewal and existing loans, including data provided by credit bureaus, other financial institutions, and bank files. Provides technical advice and assistance to loan officers as needed. Prepares spreadsheets, reports, summaries, and opinions for financial institution officers on new, renewal and existing loans. Conduct thorough financial, cash flow, and collateral analysis of credit requests. Reconcile financial statements and identify discrepancies and variances. Assign risk rating outlining strengths and weaknesses of each credit. Perform recommendations based on analysis and assessment of risk within the framework of the Banks credit culture, current economic condition, and industry trends. Clear and concise technical writing with understanding of accounting, various financial statements, ratios, forecasting, and concepts. Work closely and effectively communicate with the lenders and/or accountants (both in writing and orally) with respect to questions regarding financial information and customers operations. Efficiently manage deadlines in high-pressure work environment. Effectively answer all relevant questions with regards to presentations regarding the loan presentation and review for loan committee or executive management.
Co-present when requested with the loan officer regarding the loan presentation and review for loan committee or executive management. Effectively answer all relevant questions with regards to presentations.
Represents Sauk Valley Bank in various community, civic, and community reinvestment functions to further enhance the Bank's image and develop additional business. SECONDARY DUTIES The Senior Credit Analyst position performs duties specific for the position and other functions as designated by management. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY The position of Senior Credit Analyst is not responsible for the supervision of any employee(s). MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in agribusiness, finance or accounting preferred. Preferred minimum of five years experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of credit analysis or underwriting. Developed experience, knowledge, and training in commercial and agriculture lending activities, terminology, products, and services. Knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations and other Bank operational policies Intermediate computer skills to meet production needs of the position, especially proficient in Excel and Word Intermediate knowledge of accounting/finance concepts, ability to consolidate and interpret financial statement. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to solve difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to independently carry out specific instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees
Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties Current driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities. The incumbent must be able to perform this position safely, without endangering the health or safety to him/herself or others.
