Social Work Assistant II – New York State Civil Service Agency: Office of People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) Location: 500 Balltown Rd, Schenectady, NY 12304 Employment Type: Full‑Time, Permanent, Competitive Class Salary Grade: 17 (Range: $63,361 – $80,655) Travel Requirement: 60% Responsibilities Complete assessments in person and via telehealth video, including observations, interviews, and documentation review. Fulfill training and certification requirements before using assessment tools and maintain ongoing competency. Participate in all required OPWDD and other mandated trainings in a timely manner. Interview and communicate effectively with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and other stakeholders. Integrate information from various sources and maintain mandated timeframes for assessment completion. Complete all required documentation accurately using provided technology. Travel within assigned region, including overnight stays, and for training outside the region. Utilize flexible scheduling, including evening and weekend hours as required. Manage multiple priorities, maintain up‑to‑date case notes, meet deadlines, and achieve productivity standards. Possess a valid driver’s license and, if using a personal vehicle, receive reimbursement at negotiated rates. Qualifications Promotion: One year of service as a Social Work Assistant I and current eligibility on the Civil Service Eligible List. Open Competitive: Bachelor’s degree in a human services field plus at least two years of social work experience. Substitution: Master’s degree in a human services field can substitute for one year of specialized experience. Transfer: One year of permanent competitive or 55‑b/c status in the posted title with eligibility for lateral transfer or via Section 70.1, 70.4, or 52.6 of Civil Service Law (not a second consecutive transfer).
