These should be done ASAP as they have to go through a council to be approved or deniedUnitOB - L&D/PP (Cost Center - 8)# L&D Beds8 Total Beds: 4 labor beds & 4 PP beds. Nursery has 8 crib capability. They would stabilize & transport out if need OxyCare# triage beds2 of the labor beds can be used interchangeably as triage beds # Postpartum beds4 PP Beds# births per year, month, day350 Births/year; 25-30 Births/monthCertsBLS, ACLS, NRP, & Intermediate FHM are requiredRatiosGenerally ratios are 1:1 for L&D, 1:4 coupletsFHM SystemCentricity FHM SystemEMREPICCharge NurseYes - perm staff not travelers Nurse Aides/OB tech2 OB Techs from 8am - 4 pm, 1 OB Tech from 4pm - midnight. No OB Tech from 12 am - 7 am Weekend RequirementAt least 2 weekends/month. They consider Fri/ Sat weekend Nights & Sat/Sun Weekend Days Call Requirement Potential to be placed on call due to low -census (or high census). This could happen rarely or could happen weeklyHolidaysWork into the perm staff holiday rotationScrub ColorScrubs are providedTeleTele capable if needed but they don't have to read or interpret. CCU would read strips.VentsNo IV team OB/Neonatologist in houseProviders are on-call. They also have Nurse Midwives that often stay in-house & will stay if staff nurses request them to stay in-houseIV TeamNo IV Team but they have a PICC NurseRT 24/7RT in-house 24/7 & floats throughout the facility. Sometimes there is only 1 RT on nights. They do EKGs, Bipap, breathing treatments, ABGs, vent settings (in the CCU), etc. Pharmacy 24/7Pharmacy closes @ 5:30 pm. After hours go through UHC (United Hospital Center) - PyxisShifts12 h shifts: 0645-715 (typically 4 RN's during the day & 3-4 at night. They like to have 4 at night but don't always get 4. Might have someone on call come in if neededC-section experience requiredRN's don't usually circulate C-Sections; however, if the OR team isn't there yet, the staff nurse would need to be able to do this; therefore the ability to circulate C-Sections is required for this unit FloatingIf they have this experience & are comfortable, they could float to MedSurg or ER as helping hands; however, they would keep them 'clean' incase they have a delivery come inFloor specific orientationOrientation is mainly done on the unit 2-3 shifts w/ a preceptor Common diagnosis / Types of patients20 weeks & up - This doesn't mean they keep 20 weekers - but they have to be prepared for any gestational age, mag, insulin, pitocin, multiples, VBACS, etc.This unit is strictly L&D but occasional may get some over-flow from MedSurg or CCU, depending on room availabilty & COVID Cancellation may cancel 2 shifts per 13-week assignment and 1 shift for assignments less than 13 weeks Charting - Evident BSN License to , willing to wait Trauma Level: Care Shift Notes:12 hr nights, weekends as scheduled Required , BLS Certification, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Contract Weeks:91
