Family Support Specialist

One Family Illinois (formerly SOS Children’s Villages Illinois) is committed to keeping brothers and sisters in foster care together by providing safe, stable, and loving homes. We do this through an innovative approach to traditional foster care, offering private, single-family homes, access to a community center, and support from professionally trained Foster Parents and staff. Responsibilities Provide in-home intervention to children and families using a cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused model, teaching skills and behavioral techniques while accessing community resources and support. Oversee the intervention and treatment process for families referred for or seeking In‑Home Family Services. Conduct screening and assessments to identify protective and risk factors, challenges, strengths, and areas for improvement in the service plan. Deliver services and support in alignment with the service plan, with continuous review and adjustment as needed. Maintain the expected level of direct contact with families per program requirements, staying available 24/7 for crisis intervention. Maintain complete, accurate, and current service reports on families served, including timely written case notes, treatment plans, family assessments, and court reports as required by DCFS, referral sources, and One Family Illinois. Conduct quarterly audits of client files. Provide training and support groups on various topics as needed, including healthy relationships, self‑esteem, bullying, financial literacy, leadership, parenting, and more. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community service providers and resources such as medical staff, public welfare personnel, lawyers, therapists, law enforcement, school officials, and local organizations. Coordinate with families and community agencies for the maximum utilization of available resources to achieve the service goals of assigned cases. Prepare and submit reports and recommendations to direct supervision regarding case‑load status, budget requests, changes in service plans, and any unusual incidents. Perform on‑call duties as needed to carry out responsibilities. Communicate problems and issues within the department to the In‑Home Family Coordinator or Director. Function independently with flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with children, families, staff, and support agencies. Complete all mandatory agency and job‑specific training. Represent the agency professionally to the public and guests. Comply with all agency policies, state, federal, and local regulations.
