Day Program Professional Position Description

The Day Program Professional is responsible for ensuring individuals have engaging and person-centered experiences that promote independence, community integration and overall well-being.

Primary responsibilities include compliance with all company and regulatory policies and procedures, implementing daily activity schedules, promoting community awareness and inclusion, ensuring health and safety of individuals, providing personal care and support, assisting with personal finances, completing incident reports, utilizing crisis prevention and intervention strategies, participating in interdisciplinary planning, attending staff meetings, and traveling to other program locations as needed.

Team member expectations include compliance with company and regulatory policies, protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all medical records, promoting Beacon in a positive manner, monitoring and correcting negative social workplace behaviors, understanding how to approach and communicate with everyone, treating everyone with dignity and respect, maintaining a safe community environment, applying trauma-informed care principles, promoting trauma-informed care at all levels, following Beacon's policies, cooperating with regulatory bodies, and accepting other duties as assigned.

Professional conduct and management effectiveness will be evaluated based on job knowledge, quality of work, quantity of work, reliability, initiative and creativity, judgment, cooperation, compliance, attendance, planning and organizing, directing and controlling, decision making, problem solving, and embracing and supporting the business in accordance with Beacon's mission and core values.

Education and qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, passing a criminal background check, possessing a valid driver's license, proficiency in speaking, reading and writing English, approval by state, federal and government entities to work within BSLS programs, and ability to use office equipment and BSLS information technology systems.

Skills and abilities include communication and functioning in an interdisciplinary team, lifting and transferring up to 50 lbs, carrying 50 lbs for at least 20 feet, climbing and descending stairs carrying weight, bending, crouching, kneeling, and changing direction frequently, running 100 ft, walking up to one mile, driving for up to one hour, standing and sitting for extended periods, pushing/pulling 10 lbs and grasping objects, maintaining 20/40 vision, hearing normal speech, remaining awake and alert for entire shift, and demonstrating a professional demeanor and ability to multi-task.

The work environment includes day program sites with work, craft, and office areas, community locations, exposure to bodily fluids and personal care tasks, and work during inclement weather and potential overtime.

The physical demands include talking or hearing, close vision and ability to adjust focus, lifting files, opening filing cabinets, and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
