Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) with expertise in Medical-Surgical (MS) nursing, specifically in stroke stepdown care. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care for adult patients on the stroke stepdown unit, focusing on recovery and rehabilitation.

The position requires a commitment to a night shift from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Applicants should be prepared to float to different units as needed. The unit has a total of 64 beds and caters to various patient demographics.

Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality patient care to individuals with common diagnoses such as stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, COPD, CHF, isolation, general medical-surgical needs, pneumonia, and pulmonary issues.
• Utilize specialty equipment including IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
• Document patient care and progress accurately in the electronic medical record system (EPIC).

Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York and all active RN licenses.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience with a focus on medical-surgical nursing and stroke stepdown care.
• Current certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS). NIHSS certification is required prior to start.
• A valid driver's license with an address that matches the demographic requirements.
• Documented travel experience is essential.
• A skills checklist that matches specialty requirements must be submitted.
