Software Engineer, DevOps (Starlink)

As a software engineer specializing in developer operations, you will engage with other Starlink engineers to learn about their systems, workflows, and challenges. You will be responsible for the complete life-cycle of the software you create, including development, testing, and support. You are the engineer that other engineers can count on; you are technically excellent, you attack every problem with enthusiasm, you care deeply about what it takes to build high quality software.Aerospace experience is not required to be successful here - rather we look for smart, motivated, collaborative engineers who love solving problems and want to make an impact on an inspiring mission.RESPONSIBILITIES:Invent tools and processes that enable fast, accurate, and easy-to-use development and deployment systemsProvide fast and comprehensive software validation, including virtualized, hardware-in-the-loop, and on-orbit test platforms Monitoring and data analysis in support of a continuous integration and release systemHands-on integration and troubleshooting across the entire Starlink stack Create and manage core infrastructure such as databases and software librariesIdentify areas for improvement and create innovative solutions that enable high developer velocityBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a STEM discipline and 1+ years of combined software development experience (professional and/or internship); or 3+ years of professional experience in software development in lieu of a degreeDevelopment experience in Python, Go, or C++PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:DevOps, site reliability engineering, or systems administration experience Deep understanding of testing, continuous integration, build, deployment and continuous monitoringStrong understanding of relevant technologies, such as:Bazel or other build systemsLinux, Docker, Kubernetes, or similar technologiesGitOps, ArgoCD, or other relevant experienceFluency in PythonStrong skills in debugging, performance optimization, and unit testingExperience managing large scale systemsDeveloped and deployed software that has been used in real world applications/projectsCreative approach to problem solving, exceptional analytical skills and engineering fundamentalsExcellent communication skills both written and verbalAbility to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing needs and requirementsADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as neededCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay Range:Level 1: $125,000.00 - $150,000.00Level 2: $145,000.00 - $175,000.00Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
