Job Description
Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a rewarding role supporting K-12 students for the 2026-2027 academic year as a Sign Language Interpreter. This contract position offers the chance to work onsite, collaborating closely with educational staff in Rosenburg and Douglas, OR. Four Sign Language Interpreters are sought to foster an inclusive learning environment for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Oregon Sign Language Interpreter Certification or Licensure required
- Skilled in both American Sign Language (ASL) and the interpretation process
- Experience interpreting within educational settings, especially K-12
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Dependable, adaptable, and collaborative approach to working with educators and students
Core Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school events for students and staff
- Support direct communication between students, teachers, and peers
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and classroom activities
- Adapt interpretation methods to meet varying student needs and educational environments
- Engage in IEP meetings or team collaborations as needed to ensure student support
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and uphold professional standards at all times
