Manager, Application Engineering

ABOUT THIS POSITIONWe are seeking an experienced and driven Software Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team of software engineers and QA professionals. In this role, you will own delivery, quality, and the growth of your team while partnering closely with product and technology leadership to build the award-winning products we offer our clients. Our Engineering Managers are hands-on technical leaders who bring both strategic vision and the willingness to dig into the details alongside their team.WHAT YOU'LL DOManages all day-to-day activities of the teamConducts People Operations responsibilities for all assigned team members, including performance reviews, disciplinary action, etc.Schedules projects and resources, and monitors project timelines; will ultimately be accountable for the success or failure of all team projectsMotivates and provides guidance to team members to accomplish team goals through counseling, performance reviews, mentoring, and team building activitiesCoaches team members, helping them develop into more senior/experienced resourcesWorks with the Business Product Owners to identify priorities for Application Development and enhancements; acquires resources for projects to fit the current and future needs of the BusinessWorks closely and cohesively with other Managers within Technology, as well as with key stakeholders in related departmentsHelps other Technology Managers set and implement policies and procedures related to application quality, standards, and testingTechnical capabilities are on par with the Lead Application EngineerPlays an integral part in establishing, driving, and enhancing processes and procedures within the team, and within the Technology department as a wholeEstablishes training offerings, suited for individuals’ needs, for them to progressEstablishes priorities for Lead Application Engineers and ensures that they have guidance and coaching in mentoring other team membersAdditional duties as assignedWHAT YOU'LL NEEDExperience with statically typed / compiled languages (c#, java, c, go)Experience with dynamically typed / interpreted languages (javascript, python, php)Experience with Relational Databases (sql server, mysql, postgres)Experience with cloud technologies (aws, gcloud, azure)Experience as a Technical Lead/Lead EngineerExperience with Version Control (git)Experience with Unit and Integration Testing MethodologiesExperience building highly-scalable software solutionsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment & welcome changeHighly self-motivatedAbility to work both in team and solo environmentsDemonstrates LeadershipBachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experiencePreferred Skills:Experience with flat file data processing (parsing, validation, normalization)Experience with cloud-based data tools (Airflow, Athena/S3, Glue, etc)Experience with data analytics tools (snowflake, PowerBI)Prior experience as a people leaderABOUT WAYSTARThrough a smart platform and better experience, Waystar helps providers simplify healthcare payments and yield powerful results throughout the complete revenue cycle.Waystar’s healthcare payments platform combines innovative, cloud-based technology, robust data, and unparalleled client support to streamline workflows and improve financials so providers can focus on what matters most: their patients and communities.
