Role Description

The Aquatics Director is a full-time, on-site role located in Oceanside, NY, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the JCC’s aquatics programs and facilities. This role includes managing daily pool operations, supervising lifeguards and swim instructors, and ensuring safety protocols and regulatory compliance are consistently followed. The Aquatics Director develops and schedules swim lessons and aquatics classes, coordinates special programs and events, and maintains high standards for customer service. Day-to-day tasks include staff training, monitoring pool maintenance in partnership with facilities staff, managing program enrollment, and communicating with members and families. The Aquatics Director also collaborates with JCC leadership to enhance existing offerings and create new aquatics initiatives that support the community’s needs.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Aquatics management and Swimming, including experience overseeing pool operations and ensuring a safe environment.
• Candidates should possess skills in Swim Instruction and Swim Lessons, with experience designing and delivering programs for various ages and skill levels.
• Candidates should possess Lifeguarding expertise, including current lifeguard certification and knowledge of emergency response and CPR/first aid.
• Candidates should ideally have experience supervising aquatics staff, creating schedules, and providing ongoing training and performance feedback.
• Candidates should demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with children, adults, and families.
• Candidates should have solid organizational and administrative skills, including basic proficiency with scheduling, registration systems, and record keeping.
• Candidates should hold relevant certifications (e.g., Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor) and prior experience in a community, recreation, or JCC setting is a plus.
