What You Will Do Perform complex hand or machine sheet‑metal operations to form, fit, fabricate, and repair a variety of developmental aerospace details, parts, assemblies, and related tools. Assist other trades in fabricating complex major assemblies involving sheet‑metal operations or techniques. Use hand tools such as grinders, drills, hammers, punches, and other precision instruments. Operate fabricating machines, including shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch/drill presses to cut, bend, and straighten sheet‑metal. Apply a wide variety of measurement tools with in-depth knowledge and skill. Create drawings or sketches from oral descriptions of objects or objectives. Read and visualize three‑dimensional objects from drawings, sketches, or blueprints. Visualize 3‑D design and perform basic math, including geometry and trigonometry. Work in adverse conditions such as confined spaces, working at heights from ladders and/or man lifts, and with aging infrastructure. Qualification You Must Have High School Diploma or GED. 2 + years of trade‑training experience. Ability to operate sheet‑metal working machines and use precision measuring instruments such as rotary tables, micrometers, vernier calipers, and trammel points. Qualifications We Prefer 5 + years of experience working with sheet‑metal. 1 + years of experience with shop mathematics, including trigonometry and geometry, and ability to work from complicated drawings and sketches. 1 + years of experience with measuring instruments such as micrometers, scales, protractors, calipers, and dividers. Under direction of a leader/supervisor, make and repair sheet‑metal parts and assemble structures using welding, riveting, seaming, and other standard metal‑joining techniques. Work from drawings and sketches or verbal descriptions to layout work, obtain material and tools, and set up and operate metal‑forming and cutting equipment.
