Role: Network Engineer
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)
Contract : Long Term




Client is looking for a Network Engineer with strong enterprise network architecture experience across LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, firewalls, load balancing, network security , and cloud connectivity.







Key requirements:
8+ years of network infrastructure & protocols experience
Strong Cisco network design experience
CCNP Enterprise or equivalent (need cert copies or link to the cert)
Experience with MPLS, BGP, SIP, VoIP & wireless
Large-scale e911 deployment experience
Strong architecture, documentation & client communication skills
Palo Alto, Fortinet, or CCIE are highly desired.

Network Engineer - Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for network architecture, including routing, segmentation, firewalls, load balancing, security integration, traffic engineering, and resiliency.
• Develop and maintain network architecture documentation, including HLDs/LLDs, segmentation models, routing architectures, firewall zone models, and load-balancing designs.
• Define and enforce network standards and configuration baselines for security, availability, performance, and supportability.
• Establish architecture standards for firewalls, VPNs, ADC/load balancing, network segmentation, high availability, and cloud connectivity.
• Support lifecycle and capacity planning, including EOL/EOS tracking, scalability planning, modernization roadmaps, and firewall/load-balancer lifecycle.
• Review and approve firewall segmentation, security zones, routing architectures, application traffic flows, and load-balancing configurations.
• Support CCB activities by reviewing network-related changes affecting architecture, security, availability, performance, or resiliency.
• Evaluate OEM/vendor solutions and industry best practices for networking, security, wireless, load balancing, and cloud networking.
• Provide architectural oversight for network monitoring, telemetry, observability, and network management platforms.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience with network infrastructure and protocols, including LAN/WAN/ISP technologies such as MPLS, BGP, and SIP .
• 8+ years of experience with enterprise routers, telecommunications switches, and network technologies.
• 8+ years of experience communicating effectively with technical and business stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• 8+ years of experience in network architecture, design, implementation, and technical documentation.
• 8+ years of experience designing and implementing Cisco network solutions .
• 8+ years of experience with e911 system deployments in large organizations.
• 8+ years of experience with wireless network technologies and technical development.
• 8+ years of experience with Voice over IP (VoIP) technologies and technical development.
• CCNP Enterprise or equivalent - Required.
• CCIE, Palo Alto, or Fortinet - Highly Desired.
