What to expect Generac Clean Energy Solutions is looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing Equipment Engineer to develop and ramp automated assembly lines and processes with our Manufacturing Engineering team and supplier partners. You will be working cross\-functionally with product design engineering, supply chain, test engineering, product management, and contract manufacturer stakeholders. You will be a part of launching, sustaining, and improving some of the most advanced manufacturing equipment in the world. The best candidate for the position has a high aptitude to learn new skillsets in the position. The expectation is that Engineers will start with strengths in a given field (Robotics, PLC Programming, vision, HMI development, etc.) and then develop breadth in many other areas from those who work with them. This role requires capability across the board to sustain all parts of the automated equipment in partnership with a CM operations team. What You’ll Do Sustain production operations through responding to and resolving breakdowns quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime during office hours, and training on‑site maintenance teams to resolve issues across other shifts. Be an active leader on a cross functional Manufacturing Engineering team while taking on improvement projects to assist in improving the factory throughput and quality. Diagnose equipment failures, find root causes, and improve overall equipment effectiveness. Lead equipment upgrades with a focus on serviceability, reliability, and process capability. Develop and improve equipment validation procedures including calibration and qualification. Become expert level trainer on all machines in the production system and be responsible for the level of knowledge of CM technicians. Provide hands‑on support to maintenance team to troubleshoot and resolve extended downtime situations. Take initiative to create, implement and improve preventative and predictive maintenance documents and schedules. Participate in spare part analysis and inventory development, cost reduction, improvement working with CM Spares Department to RMA faulty components and communicate needs to the vendor. Program ladder logic and structured text on multiple PLC controller platforms (Allen‑Bradley preferred). Program and teach industrial 6‑axis robots (Fanuc) sequence complex, multi‑station machinery for material pick‑and‑place, dispense, fastening, welding and conveyance applications. What You’ll Bring - Required BA Degree in Mechanical OR Electrical OR Mechatronic. 3+ years Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting and configuration. Good overall computer skills with demonstrated ability in Rockwell/Allen Bradley preferred. 3+ years Experience commissioning and improving Equipment. Have a demonstrated track record of OEE improvement, Preventative and Predictive Maintenance activities, preferred. 3+ years Robotics maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization & teaching, preferred. Mechanical aptitude. Can debug a process/cell, even if this requires grabbing some allen keys. Ability to update 3D CAD for rapid fixture/jig projects is a plus. 3+ years in a highly automated, high volume manufacturing facility, good understanding of CMMS, Safety, Ergonomics, Change Point Management, Spare Parts Management, is a plus. Strong problem‑solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly. Able to utilize structured problem‑solving techniques such as DMAIC, Ishikawa, Five Why (5W) or Eight Disciplines (8D). Able to resolve high level performance issues into addressable actions, preferred. Able to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and electrical schematics, experience developing and improving HMI’s, Fanuc Robotics / Ignition Experience, preferred. Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers within a manufacturing and engineering organization as well as cross‑functional teams. This includes excellent communication skills: written and verbal. Creative capacity for developing new ways to do things better, cheaper, faster in alignment with the approach to revolutionary product development, is a plus. Passion for making fantastic new products and using testing to enable an engineering organization to achieve outstanding quality, reliability, and excellence. Willing to perform shifted work schedules (nights and weekends) as required on new launches. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25‑50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer‑based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
