As Software Engineer, you will be responsible for software/firmware function enhancement projects from requirements to production and commercial deployment of ABB’s industry leading Electric-Vehicle (EV) Charging Stations. As a key member of our global and collaborative EV Charging R&D Engineering team, you’llhave opportunity to learn and master our E-mobility software/firmware architecture and stacks. You’ll enjoy an authentic culture and workplace environment that highly values the development of its employees, quality, safety and diversity; plus, you’ll get the freedom to take on a range of responsibilities in a rapidly evolving environment. ***This position requires onsite work at our R&D Lab Facilities in Bloomfield, CT*** In this role, your main accountabilities will be: Work collaboratively with business partners and customers toanalyze customer requirements, define system technical specifications, and design, develop & enhance embedded software and firmware to optimize system performance and reliability Plan, perform and document unit tests Analyzetestresults and present findings at technical design reviews to ensure design robustness, efficiency, future maintainability, and supportability As SME for EV Charging Embedded Software, you’ll interact and communicate frequently with Technical Project Managers and Product Marketing Managers Proactively evaluate third party and open-source software modules Support software QA, help to resolve site deployment issues To make the above work, we are seeking an impactful engineer with: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related field is required with a minimum of 2 years of experiencein software engineering Master’s degree, and/or direct industry knowledge of electric vehicle charging, a plus Direct experience with Linux highly preferred Should be very comfortable working in a highly collaborative, global team environment, within an R&D Lab facility Strong English language speaking, reading and writing proficiency is required Very strong analytical skills required, with an inquisitive engineering problem solving mindset What’s in it for you?
