About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor & Delivery License: Required Certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, Advanced AWHONN Must-Have: - 2 years of prior experience in Labor & Delivery, with a preference for travel experience. - C-section experience required, including scrub, recovery, and circulate experience for Labor & Delivery. Description: Unit has 10 Labor & Delivery beds and 2 operating rooms. There are 2 triage beds and 18 postpartum beds. The unit experiences approximately 130 births per month. Staffing ratios are 1:1 close to delivery, 1:2 otherwise, and 1:4 for postpart. Fetal monitoring is conducted using the Obix system. Electronic medical records are managed through Cerner. Charge Nurse responsibilities are shared between Labor & Delivery and Postpartum. Scrub techs are available in Labor & Delivery. The weekend requirement is 4 shifts in a 4-week period. There is no call requirement for the position. Holiday requirements include 1 major and 1 minor, with major holidays being Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's. Scrub color is provided by the facility. There are no telemetry or ventilator patients; all are treated out. There is 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy services. Shifts are scheduled as 12 hours from 7 am, 11 am, and 7 pm. Floater assignments will occur from Labor & Delivery to postpartum; interchangeably working is typically not done. Floor-specific orientation consists of 3 shifts. Common diagnoses include deliveries down to 23 weeks, with some high-risk patients. Antepartum patients may have hypertension and cardiac abnormalities under perinatology support. The need for staff in Labor & Delivery is significant. Cancellations may occur for up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment.
