Responsibilities Provide process control design services at all levels of detail, from conceptual design through final installation, for all construction materials facilities with increasing responsibility. Develop PLC and Human Machine Interface (HMI) programs to control aggregate facilities with increasing responsibility. Assist the Corporate Network Department in the installation and configuration of plant networks, wireless systems, and firewalls. Serve as the company's representative to interface with and provide technical guidance to system integrators and construction contractors. Provide cost estimates and project schedules for capital and expense projects as needed, with increasing responsibility as experience is gained. Support existing facilities to maintain and upgrade existing control systems. Assess needs and internal resources available to perform the required tasks and coordinate the use of outside contractors as necessary. Mentor/instruct the Regional electrical staff and junior Process Control Engineers to ensure conformance to safe and best practices in all aspects of electrical systems, including design, construction, and testing. Create and provide training for Regional Electrical Staff and junior Process Control Engineers to improve troubleshooting skills and construction methods. Maintain knowledge of current methods, best practices, and code standards including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and NEMA relating to assigned work. Develop technical specifications and purchase requisitions for process control equipment. Provide input to the creation and modification of Corporate Standards, Specifications, and Policies. Provide electrical cost estimates for proposed new facilities and plant modifications, covering PLC and HMI systems, related software, and installation costs. Provide complete process control design for aggregate, asphalt, and ready‑mix facilities, including ladder logic, HMI, plant networks, and control schematics. Perform technical supervision in formulating calculations, evaluations, feasibility studies, and optimum design criteria for plant electrical integrity, reliability, and endurance. Conduct project management activities on projects with internal personnel and outside contractors, developing schedules and goals to meet milestone requirements. Participate in the review of capital and expense projects pertaining to design correctness, feasibility, and cost for the sections related to process control. Participate in the standardization of projects and databases for both engineering and estimating information. Maintain awareness of technology trends in the electrical and instrumentation industry and apply new technology and original innovation to attain competitive superiority where possible. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred). Professional engineering license (preferred). Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design and installation of heavy industrial control systems (desired). Strong knowledge of Allen‑Bradley, GE, Wonderware, and Pi Historian systems. Knowledge of SQL Server and other reporting software (plus). Knowledge of industrial control systems, computer, PLC, and HMI programming. Experience in identifying electrical problems, troubleshooting, and field installation (preferred). Knowledge of computer networking (preferred). Excellent time‑management skills, ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects. Ability to work in a stressful, deadline‑oriented environment requiring complex, technical information and decision making. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a pickup truck or car on a daily basis.
