Title: Medical Billing Specialist Location: Lake Mary, FL Duration: 6 Month Assignment 100% On-Site (No remote, hybrid, or part-time arrangements available) Day shift schedule, Monday-Friday Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Customer Accounts Specialist - Medical Billing to join our Revenue Cycle Management team in Lake Mary, FL. This role is responsible for managing patient accounts, resolving billing inquiries, reviewing patient balances, interpreting insurance explanations of benefits (EOBs), and following up on outstanding patient balances. The ideal candidate will have strong medical billing knowledge, healthcare collections experience, and excellent customer service skills. Key Responsibilities Review and reconcile patient accounts to ensure billing accuracy. Handle inbound and outbound patient calls regarding billing statements, account balances, and payment inquiries. Follow up on outstanding patient balances and unpaid accounts. Review patient statements, EOBs, and remittance advice (RA) documents. Explain billing statements, insurance processing, and payment responsibilities to patients. Process credit card payments, account adjustments, and refund requests as needed. Maintain accurate documentation of account activity and collection efforts. Assist with patient credit balance reviews and hardship application processing. Respond to patient inquiries through phone and email in a professional and courteous manner. Support month-end closing activities by ensuring accurate account information is entered into the system. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and company policies regarding confidentiality. Meet established quality, productivity, and customer service standards. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Strong knowledge of medical billing, insurance processes, and revenue cycle management. Experience in healthcare customer service and/or patient collections. Ability to interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Remittance Advice (RA). Previous experience working in a billing or customer service call center environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent problem-solving and organizational abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Preferred Qualifications Secondary education, medical certification, or related healthcare training. Experience working within the healthcare industry. Familiarity with CRM systems and customer service tools. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans. Skills & Competencies Customer-focused with a professional and positive demeanor. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Effective time management and multitasking abilities. Experience working toward performance metrics and productivity goals. Working knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare compliance requirements. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, team members, and management.
