Applications will be reviewed and candidates will be contacted for an interview as positions become available and as hiring needs arise.Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Director of Registered Nursing, the Night Adult Adjunct Clinical Instructor for Practical and Registered Nursing will oversee and mentor nursing students in clinical practice settings such as: hospitals, nursing homes, medical centers, rehab centers, assisted-living, and other sites that provide clinical experience. This role involves providing hands-on instruction, evaluating student skills, and ensuring adherence to established nursing practices and standards set by the Board of Nursing. The primary learning objective is for students to develop the necessary skills and competencies to successfully transition into professional nursing roles upon graduation.Job Type: As Needed, 12 Month Calendar Salary: Day Shift $60.00/ hour Night Shift $75.00/hour Training And Experience: Required: Current Arizona Registered Nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in Arizona And one of the following: BSN degree from an accredited university or college and 3 years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care. Graduate degree in nursing from an accredited university with at least 2 years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care. Other Requirements: Proof of all current immunizations/titers. Proof of negative PPD or negative chest x-ray Must have a current CPR certification Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Verified Prints (IVP) fingerprint clearance card. Proof of immunization against or immunity to measles and rubella if born after January 1, 1957. Candidates for hire, if offered the position, must submit within 48 hours of the offer at their own expense a Negative Urine drug screen for commonly abused controlled substances.Registered Nurse (RN) InstructorThe Registered Nurse (RN) Instructor will join a dynamic academic team at EVIT to teach students how to become compassionate nurses who strive for excellence in the profession while providing quality patient care. This position is will teach in a general classroom/lab setting. The RN Instructor will teach nursing topics that cover patient care, prevention of illness and injury, clinical skills, interprofessional communication, medical information technology, and general healthcare policy and practices. This position will continually assess and enhance the curriculum to meet the program's educational requirements, adhere to and follow all rules and regulations of our accrediting organization, and ensure high academic standards.Essential FunctionsInstruct and supervise nursing students in the classroom/lab setting.Facilitate class instruction in accordance with learning objectives and to EVIT teaching standards.Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, facilitate class discussions and assess student performance.Provide academic support and guidance to students including office hours for student consultants.Participate in department meetings and collaborate with other faculty members on curriculum development and assessment.Establish a positive student learning environment that promotes retention, accountability, excellence, innovation, collaboration, dignity, self-respect, safety and student personal and professional growth.Select proper assessments such as tests, quizzes, classroom discussions, and other assessments that will help measure the student's performance relative to the standardized learning objectives.Evaluate students' performance using grading rubrics.Conduct timely grading of work and provide timely student feedback. Maintain accurate grades and attendance records.Develop and manage the course syllabus and classroom/lab materials.Coordinate course work and curriculum with the Dean of Health Services.Ensure course materials and assessments meet the nursing academic level and Arizona Nursing Board standards.Attends meetings and training as directed by the Director of Adult Education Program.Remains current in the nursing field by reading journals, attending conferences, seminars, workshops and other professional development activities.Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student information.Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective instruction for the students.Skills and AbilitiesComputer proficiency, including use of basic software applications (Google Suite, Word, Excel, email, etc.).Working knowledge of instructional theory, general education principles and adult learning techniques/theories and how it relates to Nursing and Healthcare.Be able to create lesson plans, present in class, use ancillary materials when needed.Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written);Ability to maintain confidentiality.Must be tactful, have good interpersonal skills and sound judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines.Demonstrate commitment to teaching to a diverse student population recognizing that each student is different has their own needs, communication styles and learning processes.Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative professional relationships with students, parents, district employees of all levels and with general public.Strong problem-solving skills, ability to handle stressful situations and meet deadlines. Ability to take responsibility and exercise good judgment.Maintain safe learning conditions during the lab. Ensure proper safety protocols are followed and taught to the students.Education and ExperienceMaster's degree in Nursing.Two to three years of RN experience providing direct patient care.Licensing /Certification and Other RequirementsCurrent Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in Arizona by first day of employment.CPR/BLS Certification.Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Prints (IVP) fingerprint card. Applicable Arizona Statutes pursuant to Title 15 (Education) and Title 13 (Criminal) and Title 38 (Public Officers and Employees) prevail.Proof of immunization against or immunity to measles and rubella if born after January 1, 1957.ADA and Other Requirements: Positions in this class typically require: climbing, crawling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, fingering, standing, walking, pushing, reaching, lifting up to 20 pounds, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. This position will work in a general classroom environment using standard classroom equipment. Moderate noise levels typical of a classroom environment. Lighting and temperature will be standard for a classroom setting. Or this position will teach online or a hybrid format based on the needs of EVIT.
