NDT Technician

NDT Technician IECS Limited is offering a unique opportunity for a talented NDT Technician I to join our Chesapeake team and advance in a dynamic work environment with our Special Projects Group. The NDT Technician I performs non-destructive testing (NDT), inspection, and data collection activities on construction materials under close supervision. This role applies basic testing methods and procedures across a variety of environments while continuing to build technical competency. The NDT Technician I performs field testing, documentation, and reporting while developing experience in accordance with certification requirements and demonstrating ECS Core Values.ResponsibilitiesPerforms destructive and non-destructive testing in accordance with written proceduresConducts field observations, inspections, and material testingDocuments field activities and prepares daily field reportsPerforms testing across a variety of environments (industrial, fabrication, remote sites)Selects, calibrates, and uses NDT equipment under supervisionCommunicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managersReports changes in site conditions and additional testing requirementsMaintains organization and readiness of field testing equipmentNotifies supervisors of damaged or missing equipmentPerforms calculations, data reduction, and basic reporting tasksParticipates in project meetings as requiredPerforms other NDT-related duties as assignedCareer DevelopmentAs your experience grows, ECS will:Support you in enhancing your professional skills to advance and grow with us.Encourage participation in internal and external training programs and certification opportunities.Qualifications1 year of related experienceHigh school diploma or GED requiredMaintain basic certifications and obtain ASNT CP 9712 or ECS PQC NDE certification to Level II in a methodIf driving for or on behalf of any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is requiredAbility to travel extensively, including out-of-town assignmentsAbility to work in outdoor and industrial environmentsCompletion of initial NDT training or experience assisting Level II techniciansExposure to industrial inspection environmentsMechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving skillsGood communication skills (verbal and written)Dependable, innovative, and detail-orientedLimited but growing knowledge of NDT principles and testing standardsBasic understanding of construction and industrial practicesAbility to work independently with direction and as part of a teamAbility to perform work at heights and in varied environmentsAbility to lift and handle equipment (~40 lbs)Basic math, data reduction, and documentation skillsProficiency with electronic devices and reporting systemsAbility to read plans, follow directions, and interpret proceduresMust have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and company policiesThe expected pay range for this role and location is $29-$34/hour.
