FRANKLIN INDUSTRIES is looking for a Department Manager. The Department Manager will support Franklin Industries by skillful management of the team and by meeting all safety requirements and production goals of the department. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined and is comfortable in an industrial setting. The ideal candidate should have previous supervisory experience be comfortable in managing both equipment and people.Franklin Industries is a hot rolling steel mill located in Franklin, PA. Using recycled railroad steel, we manufacture high quality U-channel for signs, etc., as well as T-posts for agriculture. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESManage the departmentWatch and abide by all safety protocolsProvide trainings, leadership, and motivationAttend meetings and complete all trainings as assignedParticipate on interview panelsMonitor and track staff attendanceImplement disciplinary procedures as per policyComplete regular and/or annual employee reviewsReport KPIs to company executivesSend month-end report to PresidentCheck email calendar for important meetings or eventsConduct "Toolbox Talk" (safety), conduct beginning and end-of-shift employee meetingsUpdate skills and training matrix; find the best fit for employeesKeep current job manual for manager position that includes daily/weekly/monthly/yearly checklistEstablish and maintain continuous improvement (2 Second Lean), problem-solving (KATA technique), and root cause analysisMaintain ISO 9001:2015 department standardsServe on company committeesOther duties as assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent (GED)Supervisory or line of progression experience; familiarity with and knowledge of departmentIndustrial -related and production management experience preferredGood leadership/management skills; detail-orientedStrong mechanical knowledgeStrong data skillsComputer skills, ExcelGood math skillsUse of hand tools WORKING CONDITIONSThis is a safety sensitive position. You will be around and/or operating heavy machinery.
