TheAssistantDirector:FitnessProgramsisresponsibleforthedailyoperationsandstaffsupervisionofacomprehensiveTempeFitnessProgramwhichincludesGroupFitness,PersonalTraining,SmallGroupTraining,andsupervisionofthree(3)WeightRooms.Thispositionisresponsibleforcreatingwelcomingprogrammablespacesandmeaningfulopportunitiesthatsupportbothstudentsuccessandcommunitywell-being.ThispositionisofficedoutoftheASUTempecampusandservesasamemberoftheuniversity-wideSunDevilFitnessandWellnessmanagementteam..

ESSENTIALDUTIES

ProgramOperations(45%) Overseetheday-to-dayoperationsoffitnessprograms,includinggroupfitness,personaltraining,smallgrouptraining,andweightroomspaces. Coordinateprogramofferingssuchascycle,Pilates,reformerPilates,yoga,strengthtraining,smallgrouptraining,andotherfitness-basedprograms. Managescheduling,clientintakeprocesses,trainerassignments,equipmentneeds,andprogramlogistics. Ensurefitnessprogramsandspacesaresafe,welcoming,andalignedwithASUpolicies,industrystandards,andriskmanagementguidelines. Monitorprogramparticipation,revenue,trends,andparticipantfeedbacktosupportprogramgrowthandimprovement. Assistwithmarketing,promotion,andcommunicationeffortsforfitnessprogramsandservices. Collaboratewithuniversitydepartments,studentorganizations,andcampuspartnerstosupportspecialevents,programsand/orwellnessinitiatives. StaffManagement(45%) Recruit,hire,train,schedule,supervise,andevaluateamanagementintern,fitnessinstructors,personaltrainers,smallgrouptrainingstaff,andweightroomsupervisors. Provideongoingcoaching,feedback,andprofessionaldevelopmenttosupportstaffsuccess,safeprogramdeliveryandservicequality. Leadinstructortrainingcourses,NASMpreparation,andotherdevelopmentopportunitiesforstudentsinterestedinfitnessstaffpositions. Maintainstaffexpectations,trainingmaterials,procedures,certifications,andcompliancerequirements. Managestudentemployeepayrollandsupportbudgetoversightforassignedprogramareas. GeneralDuties/Expectations(10%) Supportdepartment,campus,anduniversity-wideinitiativesasassignedbyleadershipstaff. Demonstrateflexibility,criticalthinking,andindependentproblem-solvinginadynamicsetting. Provideexceptionalcustomerserviceandthoughtfulsolutionsthatfosterawelcomingandsupportiveenvironmentforallparticipants. Performotherdutiesasassigned. Availabilityforoccasionaleveningsandweekendsisrequired.

DESIREDQUALIFICATIONS

Master’sdegreeinHigherEducation,Recreation,Kinesiology,ExerciseScience,Health,SportsManagement,orarelatedfieldandatleastone(1)yearofprofessionalexperience. Experienceinleadingfitnessclassesand/orexecutingapersonaltrainingprogram. Experiencesupervising,training,andmentoringstaff. Provenabilitytoprioritize,organize,andmanagemultipleprojectseffectively. ValidPersonalTrainingcertificationand/orGroupFitnessInstructorcertificationthroughAFAA,ACE,ACSM,NSCA,orNASM,oranationallyaccreditedorganizationorobtainwithinfirst90daysofemployment.
