THIS POSITION IS AN IN-OFFICE ROLE BASED OUT OF OUR WEST MONROE, LOUISIANA CORPORATE OFFICE. EMPLOYEE MUST BE ABLE TO COMMUTE TO THE OFFICE DAILY.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

The Safety & Compliance Specialist is responsible for maintaining all policies related to Environmental, Health, and Safety activities within the organization, developing and enforcing policies and procedures related to the EHS function, and coaching and growing the workforce and practices within the workforce on safe operating practices. In addition to the core safety functions of the role, this individual is responsible for ensuring internal compliance as well as ensuring partners (subcontractors) are adequately onboarded, maintain compliance with our safety policies, and maintain appropriate safety expectations including but not limited to certifications, licenses, bonds, insurances, and registration information.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPC safety policies throughout all job sites.
  • Develop and train safe operating techniques.
  • Plan, lead, and participate in job site safety meetings.
  • Follow up with subcontractor representatives to ensure proper compliance and corrective action, when necessary.
  • Implement, inspect, and maintain job site and office safety manuals. Train employees in various safety procedures in accordance with EPC and OSHA guidelines.
  • Record, compile, and track safety metrics, maintain proper OSHA logs and related data, and monitor equipment and operating practices.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections on all job sites to ensure safety procedures are in place and being followed.
  • Lead and/or support workplace incident investigation of accidents, incidents, unsafe working conditions, and other workers’ compensation-related matters.
  • Enforce workplace safety requirements through coaching, training, or other disciplinary action methods, as needed.
  • Explore technology solutions and use current technology applications/software to improve operational and safety efficiencies.
  • Onboarding partners (subcontractors) and internal employees into safety culture, programs, and workplace initiatives.
  • Maintain state contractor’s licensing and all associated tasks/requirements related to the procurement, sourcing, securing, and renewal of respective licenses.

WHAT WILL HELP YOU STAND OUT

  • Prior experience in a construction industry is required. Prior experience directly supporting safety in a construction job is highly preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical skills, strong work ethic, results driven, and a keen focus on details in your work environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to focus on details while still operating within tight deadlines.
  • Highly effective communicator.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work alone with little supervision or direction.
  • Proficiency in video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, etc.).
  • OSHA 30 in Construction, OSHA 500, or COSS is preferred.
  • AED/CPR/First Aid certified is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA, local safety laws, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Understanding of Contractor’s Licensing requirements by state, as well as procedures for securing and maintaining licenses for internal and external (partners) stakeholders.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Outdoors environment which may require exposure to elements, including but not limited to wind, rain, heat, cold, snow, sleet, mud, etc.
  • May be required to stand, sit, bend, twist, and reach as part of the job.
  • Extended periods of standing on your feet may be required.
  • Must be able to travel to and from job locations, which may vary depending on customer and contract.
  • May be required to lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, or other job-related pre-hire screenings related to the job.
  • This position requires regular travel to construction job sites via company vehicles, up to and including at least 4 days per week. Occasional travel via airplane may be required.
