Make a difference in the lives of students and support educational success as a paraprofessional in the Elmira, NY area. This contract position is ideal for passionate individuals seeking hands-on classroom experience while providing vital support to teachers and students.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Prior experience as a paraprofessional or teacher’s aide preferred
- Ability to assist with classroom activities, behavior management, and individualized support for students
- Comfortable collaborating with teachers, staff, and students to foster an inclusive environment
- Strong communication skills and adaptability in dynamic settings
- High school diploma or equivalent (Some districts may require additional paraprofessional certification)
- Passion for helping students reach their full potential
What you’ll be doing:
- Support classroom teachers in instructional duties and provide one-on-one or small group assistance to students
- Help implement lesson plans and classroom activities under the supervision of certified educators
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing encouragement and redirection as needed
- Assist students with special needs, following individualized educational plans (IEPs) when applicable
- Create a positive and safe classroom environment for all learners
- Support classroom organization, preparation of materials, and daily routines
