Senior Power Delivery Project Manager

Job Description WSP is seeking a Senior Power Delivery Project Manager for our Power & Energy Management Team. The Senior Power Delivery Project Manager will manage day‑to‑day activities of the project management team to deliver projects consistent with WSP’s mission and culture, adhering to project management and business practices, achieving business plan goals, and maintaining high‑quality standards. This Opportunity Provides leadership and project management oversight for the development, execution, management, control, and monitoring of substation and/or transmission line projects throughout the Northeast Region. Ensures responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle—from proposal to closeout—are delivered with quality that meets or exceeds corporate and client standards. Your Impact Provide project management, including pursuit and development of opportunities, initiation, planning, execution, controlling, and closing for small, medium, or large‑scale substation or transmission line projects. Support the mentoring of all project management staff for compliance with internal process and best practices. Participate in company‑wide training and in‑person training events for division development and growth. Develop and foster effective strategies to engage project stakeholders at all levels, maintain effective relationships, and report on project progress. Provide guidance on pursuit/initiation activities for projects meeting defined criteria or risk profile, including Go / No‑Go decisions, contract reviews, risk mitigation strategies, and pricing reviews. Lead contract T&C negotiations, rate schedule development, and client presentations. Drive and coordinate the completion of appropriate levels of internal risk review required for all projects. Ensure appropriate levels of technical review, selecting qualified staff and adhering to the QA/QC plan. Provide verbal and written inputs to multidisciplinary project teams and contribute to high‑level strategic advice to clients. Ensure updates with system and process documentation: Risk (REF/RMP), Project Management Plan (PMP), Project Quality Plan (QP), Project Safety (PSP), and Communications Plan. Lead project kick‑off meetings with key stakeholders. Coordinate with area/technical managers to address project resource and subcontracting requirements in a timely manner. Maintain regular communications with the client, reporting on monthly status, safety incidents, and major issues. Participate in and oversee problem project reviews, providing input on root‑cause issues and potential solutions. Ensure regular project reporting and updates to clients, technical areas, and business unit managers. Develop new and existing clients and seek opportunities for division growth. Complete formal project closeout activities and facilitate lessons‑learned meeting. Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines to provide trusted advisor service. Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with 15+ years of post‑education experience in a project management role within the Power Delivery/Utility Industry. Minimum of 5 years applicable experience working with IOUs, IPPs, Co‑Ops, and Munis. Minimum of 5 years of experience leading engineering and/or construction teams on medium to large electrical utility projects. Knowledge and experience with project management processes and tools, including Contract Management, Meeting Management, Earned Value Management, Change Management, Risk Management, Schedule Management (CPM such as Primavera P6), and Financial Management. Advanced understanding of project delivery in the Power Delivery/Utility industry. Advanced proficiency in analytical, organizational, and business skills to bridge the business and project management. Advanced critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Advanced interpersonal and communication skills to interact with leadership, subcontractors, and employees. Excellent self‑leadership with attention to detail, multitasking, and adaptability. Ability to provide independent guidance and leadership to mid‑level to senior team members with strict adherence to QA/QC. Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, and project management software (MS Office, Visio, Project, SharePoint). Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of stakeholders. Proven record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP’s health, safety, and harassment policies. Strong adaptability to changing schedules and hours. Occasional travel required; frequency depends on client and project.
