Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Position OverviewSofidel America is a subsidiary of the Sofidel Group, one of the leading manufacturers of paper for hygienic and domestic use worldwide.We are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team in Haines City, Florida! The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will assist the site Environmental Health and Safety Manager in managing all programs for environmental compliance, loss control, safety, health, fire prevention, emergency response planning, and associated training.This individual will assist in designing and delivering programs to meet federal, state, local, and corporate environmental safety and health regulations while maintaining the applicable records and documentation demonstrable during an inspection or audit. Works with all departments, as well as site and corporate EHS, government agencies, industry associations, and peers within our industry.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Job ResponsibilitiesAssist the EHS Manager to maintain accurate EHS programs and metrics for facility management and corporate reporting systems.Maintain a working knowledge of all applicable federal and state, and local regulations, as well as corporate guidelines and policies.Coach management and employees to ensure compliance with external/internal audits,Federal, State, and corporate EHS regulations.Provide formal and informal training to employees, supervisors, and managers on safety policies and practices.Facilitate safety orientation for all new employees as well as all visiting contractors.Conduct risk assessments for all departments and make recommendations for modifications to practices, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures to management.Conduct appropriate health and safety-related inspections/audits and ensure correctiveactions are monitored and documented.Maintain an active presence on the production, warehouse floor, observe employees throughout the plant, and provide feedback and coaching.Conduct environmental compliance audits/inspections.Assist with the preparation of environmental compliance reports and permits.Respond to and investigate EHS incidents and drive closure of effective corrective/preventive actions.Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified levels of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.Performs other job-related duties in the area of responsibility as assigned.Job RequirementsBachelor’s or degree in a Science-related field with a minimum 1 year of work experience dedicated to health and safety and /or environmental field in an industrial setting, or equivalent education and work experience.Possess computer skills – specifically Microsoft Office Suite.Company BenefitsCompetitive CompensationProfessional and safe work environmentEmployee referral bonusRetention Bonus401(k) MatchDental insuranceHealth insuranceVision insuranceProfessional training and developmentPaid vacationWork Environment.
