American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department position requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and at least 6 months of Trauma Level 1 experience. Requirements Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted Required certifications (must be active, not pending): BLS, ACLS, and PALS — ENPC is not an accepted substitute for PALS Preferred certifications: TNCC and ATCN Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required Minimum 6 months of Trauma Level 1 ED experience required BSN is not required Ability to read cardiac monitor strips (Philips monitors) Must pass a Relias Dysrhythmia (DYS) exam prior to offer confirmation; candidates have 2 attempts Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years — both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license is used to verify permanent address Personal vehicle required for floating between facilities Responsibilities Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department in an acute care hospital setting ED has 36 acute beds, 54 subacute beds, and 6 trauma bays (travelers not assigned to trauma bays) Patient population includes trauma, burns, cardiac, spinal cord, and TBI cases; pediatric patients are transferred out High-volume unit serving approximately 88,000 patients per year (250–300 per day), including 30–40 psych holds 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio Charting system: Cerner Telemetry monitoring via Philips monitors; ability to read strips required Vents are managed by Respiratory Therapy; RT is available 24/7 Pharmacy is available 24/7, with a pharmacist present in the ED 10 hours per day Unit is supported by a minimum of 2 MDs (up to 8), midlevels, and anesthesia Two charge RNs on the unit with light patient loads Four PCTs available for sitter coverage 12-hour night shifts 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period, at unit discretion Holiday coverage based on unit needs Floating is required between up to 4 facilities (main campus, a second campus, and two freestanding ERs approximately 30 minutes apart); mid-shift floating is possible Orientation consists of 2–3 shifts on the floor, plus a pass/fail skills assessment on Day 1; a study guide is provided in advance SIMs Lab is required and pass/fail: ED travelers must demonstrate competency in sterile Foley catheter insertion and port-a-cath insertion (instead of central line dressing changes); breaking sterile field results in termination from the program Additional orientation topics include lifts, restraints, and wound care (educational only, not pass/fail) Navy scrubs required Natural hair color required; facial piercings are not permitted Men must be clean‑shaven for fit testing Candidates who fail the Relias DYS exam or the sterile technique skills assessment on both attempts are ineligible to be placed at CommonSpirit AZ or Sacramento region facilities for 6 months Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Perem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts #J-18808-Ljbffr American Traveler
