Job Title: HVAC Installer Job Description

The HVAC Installer installs heating and cooling systems in new residential construction, ensuring high-quality, code-compliant installations that operate safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to determine the layout and requirements for HVAC systems in new homes.

• Install ductwork, including supply, return, and exhaust ducts, in accordance with design and building codes.

• Install furnaces, heat pumps, and air conditioning units in new residential construction.

• Perform installation of ductwork, copper line sets, and condensate drain lines to ensure proper system function.

• Complete rough-in installations for HVAC systems during the early stages of home construction.

• Perform final and trim-out work, including setting equipment, connecting lines, and installing registers, grilles, and thermostats.

• Test newly installed HVAC systems to verify safe and correct operation, including checking airflow, refrigerant levels, and system performance.

• Troubleshoot and correct installation issues to ensure systems meet performance and safety standards.

• Follow all safety procedures and jobsite rules while working on residential construction sites.

• Collaborate with builders, supervisors, and other trades to coordinate installation schedules and resolve onsite issues.

• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in clean, safe, and working condition.

Essential Skills

• 4-10 years of experience in HVAC installation, specifically in new residential construction.

• Proven experience installing ductwork, furnaces, heat pumps, and air conditioners in new homes.

• Hands-on experience with rough-ins and final/trim-out for residential HVAC systems.

• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.

• Proficiency in installing ductwork, copper line sets, and condensate drain lines.

• Previous experience working as an HVAC installer or HVAC technician.

• Valid driver's license in good standing.

• HVAC certification or EPA Universal certification.

• Ability to test and verify safe and correct operation of newly installed systems.

• Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized work area.

• Strong communication skills to coordinate with builders, supervisors, and other trades.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting project deadlines.

Work Environment

This role follows a Monday through Friday schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing consistent daytime hours with no on-call duties. Work takes place primarily on new residential construction sites, with approximately 90% of projects located on the southside area, including Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Suffolk, and Portsmouth, with limited work in Hampton and Newport News. You work with standard HVAC tools and equipment while installing ductwork, furnaces, heat pumps, and air conditioning systems. The environment involves active construction sites, which may include exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, and noise, and requires appropriate work attire and safety gear suitable for residential construction settings.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Chesapeake, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $72800.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
