Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer

Purpose of Position:

Under the supervision of the Director of Cardiology and/or designated supervisor, the Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer performs specialized echocardiographic and ultrasound procedures to assist in the diagnosis, evaluation, and management of pediatric and congenital heart conditions for both inpatient and outpatient populations. The incumbent is responsible for performing a full range of pediatric cardiac ultrasound examinations, including transthoracic echocardiograms, bubble studies, strain imaging, Definity-enhanced studies, and stress echocardiograms. The Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, administrative personnel, and technical staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. Additional responsibilities include maintaining and operating laboratory equipment, supervising sonography students, participating in quality assurance and departmental educational activities, carrying out delegated laboratory functions, and maintaining all required professional credentials and continuing education in accordance with established standards and accreditation requirements.

Requirements:

1. Valid certification in Sonography issued by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
2. Current ARDMS Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) Certification.
