About the Role As a Respiratory Therapist, you will evaluate, treat, monitor, and manage patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions across a variety of inpatient settings. You will play a vital role in delivering advanced respiratory care, responding to emergencies, and collaborating with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes. This position offers exposure to a broad range of respiratory therapies, critical care interventions, and emergency response situations. We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, including: Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance Tuition Reimbursement Generous Paid Time Off 50% Off MBTA Passes Childcare Resources & Emergency Backup Care 403(b), Cash Balance Retirement Plan & Tax-Sheltered Annuity Employee Discounts on Travel, Entertainment, Events, and More Career Growth & Professional Development Opportunities Schedule & Work Environment Full-Time | 36 Hours per Week Night Shift Onsite at Faulkner Hospital Rotates through inpatient and critical care environments Member of Rapid Response and Code Blue teams Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Respiratory Therapy Assess patients and determine respiratory treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and nursing staff Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and therapeutic gases Deliver and evaluate respiratory treatments to ensure optimal patient outcomes Educate patients and families on respiratory equipment, inhaler techniques, smoking cessation, and disease management Critical Care & Emergency Response Respond to Code Blue and Rapid Response Team activations Assist with endotracheal intubation and extubation procedures Manage patients requiring advanced respiratory support Participate actively in multidisciplinary critical care rounds Ventilator Management Operate and manage ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and related respiratory equipment Monitor ventilator settings, volumes, pressures, and patient response Perform ventilator mechanics including RSBI, NIF, Airway Resistance (Raw), Respiratory Rate, and Minute Ventilation Diagnostic & Clinical Monitoring Perform arterial blood gas punctures and analysis Monitor patient responses through vital signs, blood gas results, laboratory values, and clinical assessments Document and communicate patient status and treatment outcomes Teamwork & Leadership Support and mentor respiratory care students and new team members Assist with orientation and training of new staff Collaborate across inpatient units and ICU settings Provide guidance to CRTs and limited-license respiratory staff Qualifications Required Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy Current Massachusetts Respiratory Therapist License Current BLS Certification Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential within 6 months of hire Preferred One year of Respiratory Therapy experience in an acute care setting Skills & Competencies Strong critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills Ability to work independently in fast-paced environments Experience caring for medically complex and critically ill patients Commitment to patient safety and infection prevention Excellent communication and teamwork skills Dedication to ongoing professional development and continuing education Grow Your Career at Mass General Brigham Whether you're an experienced Respiratory Therapist or looking to advance your career within a leading healthcare system, Faulkner Hospital offers the opportunity to work alongside exceptional clinicians while caring for patients with complex respiratory and critical care needs.
