The Mid-Level Defensive Cyber Software Developer will work with a diverse, highly skilled team to develop solutions for Cyber, EW, and PNT threats against U.S. weapon systems. Our products alert customers of potential cyber and EW attacks by creative adversaries. The solutions must be developed by creative, curious minds who enjoy digging, researching, programming, questioning, and learning to anticipate attacks in every way. Responsibilities may evolve with skill acquisition and emerging needs. Initially we seek someone with skills in both Cyber (vulnerability research to detection engineering) and Programming (scripting to application development). The role is full‑time on‑site with the Leidos Cyber Electromagnetic Activity (CEMA) team based in Huntsville, Alabama, and requires a TS/SCI Clearance. Primary Responsibilities Develop software and/or techniques for protecting data, networks, and host‑centric capabilities, and for detecting, identifying, and responding to attacks. Research and develop signature‑based and behavior‑based defensive techniques against adversarial attacks on tactical networks. Develop technical solutions requiring collaboration with internal and external experts, including deep analysis and understanding of impact on end products/solutions. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field with 4‑8 years of experience. Minimum 4+ years of professional experience with various programming languages; documented evidence may be provided via GitHub or other media. Intermediate proficiency in Python and Bash. Minimum 4+ years of professional cyber‑focused experience, or 6+ years of personal cyber engagement such as CTF events, home hardening, conferences, and related projects. Strong understanding of networking protocols at all layers and associated network architecture, including tools like Wireshark. Working knowledge of Linux CLI scripting, daemons, resource monitoring, networking, and text editors. Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance. Preferred Qualifications Hands‑on experience in a security operations center (SOC) with a SIEM, and demonstrated threat‑hunting skills. Experience with C/C++, web development, Agile processes, and other common programming disciplines. Experience with Network Security Monitoring (NSM). Experience writing custom detection rules in Suricata, Snort, Yara, Sigma, and/or similar formats. Relevant certifications such as Network+, Security+, CySA+, Linux+, PenTest+.
