Job Posting Title Welding Tutor (Hourly) Job Description Summary To serve as an Embedded Tutor (Hourly) that provides academic support to students in welding and related disciplines. Responsibilities Attend class meetings and assist during student collaborative work, individual work, and other activities. Hold tutoring hours to further assist students in the course, serving both those mandated to attend and those who opt to attend. Tutor students according to set priorities and academic goals. Provide assistance to students on a one‑on‑one or group basis in the subject discipline, college study skills, and Learning Lab resources. Organize supplemental learning materials and provide feedback on student progress. Assist with research, development, delivery, and evaluation of specialized tutoring services and/or resources for tutorial activities. Lead study groups in the subject matter. Knowledge Tutoring techniques, standards, and supplemental learning materials for individual and group tutoring. Learning Lab services. Processes and resources for organizing and leading study groups. Skills Maintain an established work schedule. Maintain confidentiality of work‑related information and materials. Use effective interpersonal and communication skills including tact, patience, and diplomacy. Use organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow‑through. Understand and follow instructions precisely. Provide quality tutorial services to groups and individuals and give feedback regarding student performance and/or progress. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from multicultural backgrounds, including students, fellow tutors, and faculty. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes good relations with students, co‑workers, and staff. Demonstrate proficiency in standard office software applications. Required Work Experience One semester related work experience. Preferred Work Experience Some college coursework in the discipline. Required Education Degree or substantial undergraduate coursework in the discipline, and demonstrated competence in the subjects that will be tutored. Preferred Education Associate degree. Physical Requirements Work performed in a learning lab environment on campus in an academic setting. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Occasional lifting of objects up to 20 pounds. Work safely and follow safety rules; report unsafe working conditions and behavior; take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices. Pay $25.10 per hour, up to 19 hours per week.
