This position involves working in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. Shifts will vary between 10 and 12 hours. The selected candidate will be expected to float within the unit. There will be a requirement for call on weeknights and weekends. The successful candidate will care for patients in preop, phase 1, and phase 2 recovery areas. Nurse-to-patient ratios vary based on patient stability. Common cases include orthopedic surgeries, OB/GYN, general surgeries, urology, and endoscopy. Registered Nurses will need to read strips and monitor critical patients, including those requiring ventilation support. Collaborative teamwork is essential, and charge nurses may take assignments as needed. The department will provide scrubs for staff use. Cancellations may occur; up to four shifts can be canceled per 13-week assignment. The charting system used is EPIC.
