Lead Software EngineerLocation: New York, NY (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite) Job Type: ContractJob Overview: We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer – Java to join a high-performing engineering team supporting mission-critical Fixed Income trading platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong server-side Java development expertise, hands-on experience with electronic trading systems, and deep knowledge of Fixed Income products.Required Qualifications:6+ years of professional software development experience with Java.Strong expertise in Core Java and server-side application development.Solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles and software design patterns.Experience working with both modern and legacy enterprise applications.Strong knowledge of the Fixed Income domain, with hands-on experience in US Treasuries or Interest Rate Swaps.Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact directly with business users and technology stakeholders.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with electronic trading platforms and venues, including Tradeweb, Bloomberg, BrokerTec, eSpeed, or Fenics.Prior experience developing algorithmic trading solutions.Experience building or supporting low-latency trading applications.Working knowledge of Python and willingness to work across multiple technologies as business needs evolve.Experience using AI-powered developer tools such as Claude Code or similar command-line coding assistants.Required Skills:JavaCore JavaServer-side JavaObject-Oriented Programming (OOP)Fixed IncomeUS TreasuriesInterest Rate SwapsElectronic TradingLow Latency DevelopmentAlgorithmic TradingPython (Preferred)Claude Code or CLI AI Development ToolsSoftware DevelopmentProblem SolvingStakeholder Communication
