About the Position

Job Title: PICU RN Profession: RN Specialty: PICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active RN License Certifications: PALS Must-Have: Intubated and ventilator experience. ICU level of care experience. Description: The pediatric intensive care unit admits all ICU-level care patients across a variety of body systems. This includes respiratory, neuro, GI, GU, plastics, burns, DKA, and medically sick patients with a cardiac history, orthopedic, ENT, and more. Typical patient ratios are 2:1, with 1:1 for higher acuity and 3:1 for lower step-down acuity. The unit is equipped with ventilators, drips, chest tubes, central lines, syringe pumps, trachs, and GT. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. Candidates should possess experience with central line and chest tube placement, sedation, lumbar punctures, and intubation. Flexibility for change, effective communication with the medical team, and a friendly, positive attitude are essential traits for success in this role. The position requires every other weekend availability. Floating may be required to all children’s units. This role provides an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and to impact the lives of critically ill children. Candidates without the required skills will not be considered for this role. Candidates with ECMO and CRRT experience will be prioritized. A PICU manual outlining processes and guidelines will be provided upon arrival.
