The research group ”Systems Medicine in Psychiatry“ at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the University Medical Center Freiburg, is looking for a# PhD Candidate Bioinformatics, Data Science or Related Areas (m/f/d)This PhD project is embedded in BMFTR-funded project „Systems Medicine in Psychiatry - Advancing Treatment Response through Mulit-Omics Approaches and Multi-Modal Biomarkers“. The project aims to improve treatment algorithms, particularly for depression, through multimodal predictors, including clinical variables and multi-omics data (e.g. DNA methylation, gene expression, protein expression).### We offer:* an exciting position within a highly motivated multidisciplinary team* close mentorship and training opportunities* a collaborative national and international network* a fully-funded position, with additional benefits (e.g. travel funds, family support)* UKF employment benefits### Your Tasks:* quality control and preprocessing of genetic, epigenetic, and transcriptomic data* statistical analysis and integration of multi-omics datasets* Implementation, optimization, and application of novel methods* analysis, interpretation, presentation, and publication of research data* Participation in administrative tasks within the group### Your Profile:* a strong interest in translational, data-focused research in psychiatry and the goal to pursue a career in academia* completed Master’s degree (or equivalent qualification) in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Molecular Medicine, Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline* experience in programming, preferably R* excellent organizational and communication skills* proficiency in written and spoken EnglishThe position is limited to 5 years.
