Accounting Manager

Overview The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the organization’s financial activities, including budgeting, accounting and financial reporting. This position reports directly to the County Clerk. The candidate will possess strong leadership and communication skills and a deep understanding of financial processes. This is a key position within the organization and will require strategic thinking, effective communication and the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Duties Manage all daily accounting operations and accounting information systems including general ledger functions and financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and Kentucky Regulatory Accounting. Supervise the accounting team and provide mentorship. Prepare monthly reporting and disbursement of funds to taxing districts in compliance with Kentucky Revised Statutes. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, monthly journal entries and complete the month-end close processes. Prepare or oversee reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy of accounts and internal controls. Oversee the organization’s purchase of supplies and vendor payments. Develop, implement and maintain internal controls procedures to safeguard the agency’s assets. Lead the annual budgeting process, working closely with the County Clerk and department managers to establish financial objectives. Lead annual financial audit with Kentucky State Auditors. Serve as liaison for key external relationships including banks, vendors, suppliers, auditors and various government agencies. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA certification. Minimum of 5 years of related experience. Be able to work with minimum supervision. Good reasoning, problem-solving and analytical skills. Position Type This is a full-time position: On-Site, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The position supports 70-75 on-site staff and supervises 2 staff.
