Position Title: IT Infrastructure Engineer / Network & Systems Specialist
Kane County, Illinois
Type: Long Term Contract
Role Summary
Kane County is seeking experienced IT Infrastructure resources to support County-wide network and infrastructure operations including voice/data networks, wireless systems, cybersecurity technologies, data center operations, virtualization, backup/disaster recovery, and system administration.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain and support enterprise network infrastructure (voice, data, fiber, wireless/cellular).
Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls , VPNs.
Support SIEM tools , security monitoring, incident response.
Perform infrastructure assessments and recommend improvements.
Support data center operations , server patching, capacity planning.
Manage backup systems and contribute to disaster recovery planning/testing.
Support virtual environments (VMware/Hyper-V) and system administration tasks.
Document infrastructure processes, diagrams, and configurations.

Required Skills

Network operations: LAN/WAN, VPN, VLAN, routing/switching
Voice/Data/Fiber/Wireless networking
Cybersecurity: firewall, endpoint security, SIEM monitoring
Disaster recovery / business continuity practices
Virtualization: VMware / Hyper-V
Windows/Linux server administration

Preferred

Government or County-level infrastructure experience
Certifications: CCNA/CCNP, Security+, Network+, Azure/AWS certs
Experience working in large organizations / enterprise environments
