Join a community hospital in Santa Cruz, California, providing essential urology call coverage due to a local shortage of available urologists. This ongoing locums opportunity offers 24-hour call coverage with flexible month-to-month scheduling while providing general urology services to an adult patient population.

Assignment Details

Contract Length:

Month-to-month

Anticipated minimum duration of six months

Coverage Requirements:

24 days per month

Full-time equivalent coverage (1.0 FTE)

Schedule:

24-hour urology call coverage

Call Schedule:

• 24-hour call
• Response time required: less than 30 minutes
• Approximately 2-3 phone calls per day
• Approximately 1 procedure every other day
• Approximately 2 follow-up notes per day

Clinical Details & Responsibilities

Practice Setting:

Community Hospital

Non-trauma center

Patient Population:

Adult urology patients

Patient Volume:

Approximately 2 patients per day

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Provide 24-hour urology call coverage
• Respond to urgent urology consultations
• Perform general urology procedures
• Provide inpatient and emergency urology management
• Complete follow-up documentation
• Collaborate with hospital staff as needed
• Document patient care using Cerner EMR

Required Procedures & Skills

General urology/core privileges required, including:

• Emergency urologic evaluations
• General urology procedures
• Inpatient urology consultations
• Surgical management within core urology privileges

• Board Certified in Urology - Required
• Active California Medical License - Required
• BLS Certification - Required
