Provide for the safe, efficient, and courteous transportation of students. DL Class B with PS endorsement with a good driving record. Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and T-8 Physical acceptable BCI & FBI background checks. Minimum education: High school diploma or GED. Minimum experience: None. Preferred education/experience: 1-3 years of experience in driving commercial vehicles. Required licensure: Commercial driver’s license. Essential functions include operating the assigned vehicle according to all motor vehicle laws, keeping the transportation supervisor informed about emerging issues, maintaining established routes and time schedules, transporting only authorized passengers, picking up and unloading students only at approved stops, keeping route sheets up-to-date, offering routing suggestions, fueling the assigned vehicle, performing pre-trip/post-trip safety inspections, checking safety equipment and first aid supplies, preparing reports that describe equipment malfunctions, supervising bus loading and unloading procedures, operating the wheelchair lift, ensuring that wheelchairs are properly secured before operating the bus, inspecting harnesses, restraints, and other safety devices, immediately correcting or reporting unsafe conditions and/or defective equipment, anticipating and preparing to provide assistance when aware of passengers with medical or other health considerations, assuming responsibility for the interior/exterior cleanliness of the vehicle, using proper protocol when operating bus communication equipment, attempting to identify and report vehicles that fail to comply with traffic regulations, watching for student behavior that may indicate a problem, intervening and/or reporting concerns to an administrator, immediately reporting all traffic citations and accidents, documenting injuries that require medical attention, and performing other duties as directed. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent basis up to eight hours per day, ability to operate a motorized vehicle, pushing away from and pulling towards the body from a seated position frequently up to five-hours per day, and fine motor skills required for use in pincher grasp and typing. Working conditions are generally inside a moving vehicle. Job performance is evaluated according to the policy provisions and procedures of the West Carrollton City Schools.
