Job Description This role focuses on inspecting, maintaining, and repairing industrial refrigeration and HVAC systems in a large plant environment. You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair ammonia refrigeration equipment, and support the installation and setup of new machinery while following strict safety protocols. Responsibilities Perform daily inspections and preventive maintenance on refrigeration equipment, including air conditioners, compressors, evaporators, and freon units, to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards. Diagnose issues and perform repairs and overhauls on ammonia refrigeration systems, including replacing motors, pumps, switches, safety controls, solenoids, and fuses across all plant refrigeration areas. Maintain and monitor boilers, evaporators, and condensers to ensure proper water treatment, airflow, and reliable operation of fans and glycol pumps. Assist with equipment setup and teardown for plant machinery, including fabrication and installation of new equipment, and support major repairs and construction projects as needed. Essential Skills Minimum of 0 to 1 year of related experience, ideally in an ammonia refrigeration environment. Knowledge of general refrigeration maintenance, including working with air conditioners, compressors, evaporators, and freon units. Basic understanding of ammonia refrigeration systems, including boilers and ammonia compressors. Ability to perform preventive maintenance and follow structured maintenance procedures. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks in an industrial environment. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sioux Falls, SD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.25 - $32.25/hr.
