Overview The Lab Technician role at STgenetics is built for career-focused individuals seeking long-term growth in a high-quality laboratory environment. The role includes multiple shift openings, including 2nd and 3rd shifts. This role begins with foundational laboratory skills—such as flow cytometry and sperm physiology—while receiving comprehensive training under the supervision of the Lab Manager and experienced technicians. Over time, technicians will expand their technical expertise to independently operate multiple sorting units, support lab operations at a higher level, and contribute to training and mentoring newer team members. As proficiency grows, Lab Technicians may be assigned independent responsibilities and participate in special projects that support process improvements and long-term laboratory success. Shift Differential A 20% differential pay is provided for all hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM, recognizing the commitment and expertise required for evening and overnight operations. Responsibilities / Duties Arrive on time for all scheduled shifts and communicate with all team members in a professional manner. Operate and maintain sorters and lab computers for data entry. Participate in daily production of sexed semen with emphasis on sterility and semen quality. Perform daily duties including sorter startup, calibration, sort setup and shutdown, sorter cleaning, sterilization, and bacterial testing. Use sterile techniques at all times to avoid contaminating laboratory areas, samples, or instrumentation. Use various software applications (spreadsheets, relational databases, email, internet, statistical packages, graphics packages) to assemble, manipulate, and/or format data and/or test reports. Use and comply with universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from biohazardous materials. Exhibit proper handling of potentially hazardous chemical and biological agents and/or radiation sources in the workplace. Monitor inventory levels and proper storage of materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures. Keep current knowledge of vendors and suppliers of materials specific to laboratory requirements.
