About the Position

Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory Therapist Specialty: Respiratory Therapy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights, Every Other Weekend Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CRT, RRT Must-Have: Critical Care experience, Mechanical ventilation experience Description: Unit Notes: The department performs approximately 5-6 treatments per day and utilizes ventilators. Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP. Preference is given to Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT), but Certified Respiratory Therapists (CRT) will be reviewed. The patient population consists of adults. The department covers inpatient and emergency department services. Key skills required include the ability to draw and analyze arterial blood gases (ABG) from arterial line punctures. Respiratory Therapists are required to assist with intubations but are not required to intubate independently. There is no designated supervisor present, but team leads are assigned for each shift and carry a workload. Night shifts are from 18:00 to 06:30, with no individual being the only Respiratory Therapist in-house. Weekend requirements include every other weekend, with potential holiday requirements as well. There is no call or standby requirement. The department uses specific equipment such as ventilators (840, 980), CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow devices (V60, Vapotherm). Clientists or intensivists are available on-site. Department-specific orientation is provided. Cancellation policy allows the hospital to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment. Charting is conducted using an electronic system. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is not required. If licensed, submissions of the application are welcomed. The care setting is acute, and the division is allied.
