Job Title: Clinical Research Coordinator Job Description

The Clinical Research Coordinator supports oncology clinical trials by coordinating protocol initiation, managing study documentation and data, and working directly with patients in the clinic. This role combines rigorous data management with hands-on clinical trial coordination, including recruitment, screening, consenting, and blood processing, to ensure high-quality research conduct and compliance with regulatory and institutional requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the initiation and activation of new clinical trial protocols in oncology.
  • Prepare and maintain study tools such as study binders, medication diaries, eligibility checklists, calendars, and flow sheets using OnCore, Excel, and Word.
  • Review patients’ charts and medical histories in collaboration with the Research Nurse Clinician and/or physician to confirm protocol eligibility and obtain required source documents.
  • Ensure that IRB-approved informed consent forms are properly obtained, signed, filed in the medical record, and that copies are provided to patients.
  • Maintain complete and accurate research records for all enrolled patients, including consent documentation, eligibility verification, case report forms (CRFs), registration confirmations, and corresponding source documents.
  • Assist the Research Nurse Clinician and physician in grading adverse events using the latest National Cancer Institute common toxicity criteria or protocol-specific grading scales.
  • Complete Serious/Unexpected Adverse Event (SAE) forms for internal and multicenter serious or unexpected adverse events in accordance with sponsor, federal, and institutional requirements.
  • Provide regular study status reports using OnCore to tumor study group members and Principal Investigators for assigned studies.
  • Serve as a primary liaison with study sponsors, scheduling monitoring visits and conference calls and providing accurate, timely, and well-supported responses to sponsor queries.
  • Manage and coordinate study data, ensuring high-quality data collection, entry, and integrity across multiple electronic data capture (EDC) systems.
  • Recruit, screen, and consent patients for clinical trials, working directly in the clinic to support patient enrollment and participation.
  • Perform blood processing procedures as required by study protocols and institutional guidelines.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 4 years of clinical research experience, including patient recruitment, data collection, and data entry.
  • At least 4 years of oncology experience, which may come from clinical research, academic training, or nursing settings such as gynecologic oncology.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting, screening, and consenting patients for clinical trials.
  • Strong background in data management, with approximately 60% of the role focused on data management and coordination.
  • Experience working with multiple electronic data capture (EDC) systems, with Medidata and Inform highly preferred.
  • Proficiency using OnCore, Excel, and Word to develop and manage study tools and documentation.
  • Experience with blood processing procedures in a clinical or research environment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply protocol-specific requirements and regulatory guidelines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate and complete research records.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in oncology settings such as gynecologic oncology is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with National Cancer Institute common toxicity criteria and protocol-specific adverse event grading scales.
  • Comfort working across multiple studies and systems simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with physicians, research nurses, study sponsors, and tumor study group members.
  • Ability to anticipate sponsor needs and respond promptly and thoughtfully to queries.
  • Capacity to balance clinic-based patient activities (approximately 40% of the role) with data-focused responsibilities.
Work Environment

This position is based on site in the Bronx approximately four days per week. The role involves a mix of clinic-based patient interaction and office-based data management and coordination. You will work with oncology clinical trial teams, including physicians and research nurses, and use technologies such as OnCore, Medidata, Inform, Excel, and Word to support study conduct and documentation. The environment is collaborative and detail-oriented, with a strong focus on accurate data, regulatory compliance, and patient-centered clinical research.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of bronx, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
