Job Summary:The Mechanical Engineer, DC Power develops the mechanical product design and system integration content within technical customer proposals for Vertiv's Modular Power Converters product line. This role works under the direction of the Project Proposals & Global Engineering Lead, producing product design layouts with tolerance analysis, system assembly and integration documentation, connection/interface definitions, and manufacturing/assembly considerations. A key responsibility is ensuring proposed designs are buildable, properly toleranced, and aligned with customer requirements.Responsibilities:Develop product design layout drawings for customer packages - module arrangements, shelf configurations, and cabinet assembliesPerform tolerance stack-up analysis to verify fit, form, and function across mating components and assembliesDefine system assembly sequences and integration procedures for modular DC power configurationsDocument all mechanical connections and interfaces - power bus, signal cable routing, cooling interfaces, grounding paths, and mating sequencesCreate site fit documentation - physical footprint, clearance requirements, and interface dimensions with customer infrastructureCoordinate with DFM Engineer on manufacturability of proposed configurations and assembly processesReview project designs (mechanical) under Proposals Lead for accuracy to customer site expectationsVerify requirements traceability - ensure every customer mechanical requirement has a corresponding specification responseCollaborate with team to ensure mechanical and electrical package content is consistentRequirements:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field2+ years of experience in mechanical product design, system integration, or product engineeringExperience with product layout drawings, assembly documentation, and tolerance stack-up analysisProficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) for multi-component assembliesExperience defining assembly sequences, mechanical interfaces, and connection specificationsUnderstanding of assembly processes, tooling, and DFM/DFA principlesAbility to produce clear, customer-ready specification and integration documentsProficiency with Creo (preferred), SolidWorks, or equivalent for product layouts and assembly documentationExperience with BOM maintenance MRP programs (Oracle Cloud) and lifecycle PLM vaults (Agile, Windchill)Preferred Qualifications:Experience in telecom or data center power equipment designFamiliarity with modular/hot-swappable product architecturesExperience with tolerance analysis software (Vis VSA, 3DCS, or manual stack-up methods)Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and tolerancesExperience with seismic qualification (GR-63, Zone 4)Previous proposal, bid, or design engineering roleFamiliarity with rack-mount and floor-standing power equipment interfacesExperience coordinating with manufacturing/production engineering teamsTravel Requirements:5-10%, including internationallyThe successful candidate will embrace Vertiv’s Core Principals & Behaviors to help execute our Strategic Priorities.OUR CORE PRINCIPALS: Safety, Integrity, Respect, Teamwork, Diversity & Inclusion.OUR STRATEGIC PRIORITIES Customer Focus Operational Excellence High-Performance Culture Innovation Financial StrengthOUR BEHAVIORS Own It Act With Urgency Foster a Customer-First Mindset Think Big and Execute Lead by Example Drive Continuous Improvement Learn and Seek Out DevelopmentVertiv is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
