The RN is also responsible for the clinical direction and management of the STNA duties within the assigned nursing unit./ppResponsibilities and major duties:/pulliEnsure accurate and timely administration and distribution of all medications to assigned residents within facility./liliAdminister and document direct resident care, medications and treatments per physicians orders and accurately record all care provided./liliObtain report from and provide report to nurse being relieved or coming on duty and record/relay sufficient information to implement appropriate follow-up action as necessary./liliAssess and properly document comprehensive assessment of residents as assigned./liliDevelop and implement an accurate comprehensive care plan based on each residents needs and his/her comprehensive assessment./liliIdentify resident problems and emergency situation and initiate emergency care and life-saving measures in the absence of a physician./liliProvide supervision to Nursing Assistant providing direct resident care./liliCounsel Nursing Assistants and recommend disciplinary action to the Director of Nursing Service, when necessary./liliParticipate in the employee evaluation process by providing information on the performance of Nursing Assistants when requested./liliPromptly report changes in residents conditions to the physician, Director of Nursing Service and responsible party, and take follow-up action as necessary./liliOrder, receive and store medications appropriately./liliDocument resident progress notes as required./liliConsistently work cooperatively with residents, nursing staff, physicians, families, consultant personnel, community agencies and ancillary service providers./liliObtain continuing education required to maintain licensure./liliObserve infection control and safety procedures./liliAttend and participate in all scheduled staff meetings, educational meetings/in-services and all other meetings related to employment./liliAssist with and participate in all resident activities to facilitate a home like environment for the residents within assigned facility./liliEnsure compliance with all HIPAA regulations./liliRespectfully engage and welcome all visitors, guests and family members within the facility./liliEnsure a safe and sanitary living environment for residents./liliAdhere to all infection control policies within the assigned facility./liliEnsure the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process is followed in accordance to State Federal Guidelines./liliFollow Resident Rights policies at all times./liliAdhere to all facility policies and procedures./liliEnsure adherence to the Corporate Integrity Program and the Performance Expectations at all times./liliPerform other related duties as directed by Licensed Nurse and/or person of authority./li/ulpPosition Qualifications/ppEducation and Experience: Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program. Bachelors Degree preferred. Previous experience as a RN preferred. 1 year of experience as a RN preferred. Ability to add and subtract and perform basic mathematics as it relates to the position is required. Ability to read/write/comprehend the English language in written verbal form required. Ability to communicate both verbally and non-verbally required./ppLicensure, Registration and/or Certification: Successfully complete /or comply with all required background checks to include but not limited to: Ohio BCII fingerprint analysis, FBI (if applicable) fingerprint analysis, Nurse Aide Registry, HHS/OIG list of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE) Ohio Medicaid Provider Exclusion and Suspension List. Valid License to practice as a LPN in the State of Ohio. CPR certification required./ppResponsibility for Patient Care: Provide services based on physician orders. Communicate physician, patient and family needs with the appropriate caregivers./ppComputer: Intermediate personal computer skills including electronic mail, routine database activity and word processing./ppLeadership Responsibilities: Responsible for the direction and management of the STNAs and/or Restorative Aides within the facility./ppResponsibility for confidential matters: Works regularly with some information such as medical records or reports, financial reports, information on computer screens or other electronic devices, and records that are restricted to specific persons. Must comply with confidentiality policy./ppEnvironmental and working conditions/ppMay be exposed to heat and cold in all weather conditions. Works regularly under desirable conditions with little or no disagreeable features. Distractions are frequent./ppOCCUPATION EXPOSURE/ppX Category 1 Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues/ppX Category 2 Tasks that involve NO exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, but employment may require unplanned Category 1 tasks/ppX Category 3 Tasks that involve NO exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues; would not be required to perform Category 1 task Age Group and Abuse Guidelines Primarily engages with adults and the elderly. Knowledge of the physical, social emotional, and intellectual needs of adults and the elderly will be helpful. This includes being able to detect abuse with regard to state regulations.
