Shift Information

• Night Shift: 4x10-Hour (21:00 - 07:00)
• Day Shift: 3x12-Hour (06:00 - 19:00)
• Variable Shift Scheduling: May be assigned to 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts with a guarantee of 40 hours per week.
• Weekend Scheduling: Possibility of working every weekend or every other weekend, depending on census and staffing needs.
• Possible Shift Start Times: 07:00 - 14:00; Possible Overnight Start Times: 21:00 - 23:00. Weekend night shifts may extend to 12 hours as required.

Responsibilities

The role involves the following key responsibilities:

• Collecting blood specimens and processing specimens for laboratory testing.
• Interacting with patients of diverse ages and backgrounds.
• Receiving, sorting, and accessing specimens, ensuring accurate assignment to appropriate pre-analytic and analytic workflows.
• Completing computerized tasks related to patient registration, test order entry, specimen collection, receiving, and processing.
• Performing basic post-analytic tasks, including distributing reports and managing the storage and retrieval of specimens.
• Completing quality-related tasks such as documentation, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and monitoring work queues with priority escalation as needed.
• Operating and utilizing basic pre-analytic laboratory equipment.
• Adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations and policies to ensure patient privacy and safety during care delivery.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:

• Required Certifications: BLS and CPT II State License.
• Previous experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar role.
• Skills: Proficiency in ABG collection, aseptic technique, blood culture techniques, data entry, and proper specimen handling.
• Experience in patient care involving diverse age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.

Additional Information

• Daily Census: Approximately 25 patients.
• Patient Visits: 30 visits per day.
• Orientation Duration: 40 hours.
