Continuous if date is blank.Note: Applications will be accepted until 11:59 PM on the day prior to the posting end date above.Estimated Appointment End Date (Continuous if Blank)Full/Part-TimeFull timeJob TypeRegularCompensationJob DescriptionSalary: $60000.00Basic PurposeAssists Commandant of Cadets with program development, administration and oversight of staff and cadets for the Oklahoma Youth Challenge Program, a voluntary 22-week residential, quasi-military program for at-risk youth ages 16-18.Typical FunctionsResponsible to the Commandant of Cadets (COC) for accountability, control, security and overall well being of cadet corps.Under supervision of the COC plans, organizes, and coordinates the required activities of the Program Cadets for a 110 bed program.Serves as the Operations Manager of the Cadre section in the absence of the COC.Supervises 35 operations department personnel and is responsible for personnel management in the departmentProvides day to day oversight, direction, and guidance to Cadre staff and ensures positive, constructive and open communication is employed at all timesOrganization and management of subordinate duty rosters including compensatory and annual leavePlans training and activities for cadre staff and cadets; executes published training events on time and to standard.Supervise completion of the daily training scheduleDevelops community resources for cadet and program enhancementProvide guidance and counseling to subordinate staff to assure proper supervision of cadetsManage cadet discipline systemMake recommendations to the COC concerning program needs and Standard operating procedure revisionsConduct staff meetings to provide information about program policies and changesLevel DescriptorSupervisor levelEducation and ExperienceA Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree and/or 4 years equivalent experience with youth program management. Senior military leadership experience preferred (NCO or Officer). Experience in operating, managing an organization. Experience working with youth required; Examples include working directly with at-risk youth, or related experience such as youth services, coaching, military, education or law enforcement.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and CompetenciesKnowledge of youth counseling techniques, human behavior identification, crisis intervention and deviant behavior; methods and techniques to promote physical health, skills, and self-esteem. Computer based skills to work on internet as needed. Must be fluent in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel software programs in order to efficiently complete written communications and reports.Special RequirementsLicenses/Certificates required : Possession of or ability to obtain a CDL permit within 90 days of employment and the official Commercial Driver License with passenger endorsement within one year of hire date.Physical Requirements: Ability to guide, lead and instruct physical training to include road marches, calisthenics, strength, and endurance training. Must be able to lift/carry a minimum of 15 pounds. Some evening and weekend hours are required.
