Certified HVAC TechnicianKoniag Operations Services, LLC a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Certified HVAC Technician with a Top-Secret security clearance to support KOS and our government customer in Williamsburg, KY. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity. This position requires an active Top Secret security clearance to support KOS and our government customer. The Certified HVAC Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems within commercial and industrial facility settings. This position requires strong technical expertise, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and a commitment to ensuring all HVAC systems operate efficiently and safely.Principal responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and equipment including furnaces, air handlers, condensers, compressors, chillers, and related componentsDiagnose HVAC system malfunctions using diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and testing equipment to identify root causes and determine appropriate repair solutionsPerform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems according to manufacturer specifications and maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and longevityConduct routine inspections of HVAC equipment, ductwork, refrigeration lines, and control systems to identify potential issues and ensure proper operationTest HVAC system performance, including temperature controls, airflow, refrigerant levels, and electrical components to ensure systems meet operational specificationsRepair or replace defective components including motors, compressors, belts, filters, thermostats, and control systemsCharge and recover refrigerants in accordance with EPA regulations and environmental safety standardsRead and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications to perform installations and repairsEnsure all work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and safety standardsMaintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and system performance data in work orders and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)Respond promptly to emergency service calls and system failures to minimize downtime and restore comfort conditionsCollaborate with other maintenance technicians, engineers, and contractors to complete complex projects and system installationsMaintain inventory of HVAC parts, tools, and materials necessary for routine maintenance and emergency repairsProvide technical guidance and support to junior technicians as neededStay current with HVAC technology advancements, industry best practices, and continuing education requirementsEducation and Experience: Required:High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of accredited HVAC technical training program or apprenticeshipActive Top Secret security clearanceValid Journeyman HVAC License (or state equivalent for Kentucky)EPA 608 Certification (Universal preferred)Current annual continuing education certificates in HVAC or related fieldsMinimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repairValid driver's licenseRequired Skills and Competencies:Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC systems, components, refrigeration cycles, and climate control principlesStrong understanding of heating systems including furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, and radiant heatingProficiency in air conditioning and refrigeration systems, including chillers, cooling towers, and split systemsExpert knowledge of EPA regulations regarding refrigerant handling, recovery, and disposalAbility to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specificationsAdvanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with the ability to identify complex system issuesProficiency using HVAC diagnostic tools including multimeters, manifold gauges, leak detectors, and airflow measurement devicesStrong understanding of electrical systems, controls, and building automation systemsKnowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, OSHA safety regulations, and industry standardsExcellent mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and specialized HVAC equipmentPhysical ability to perform demanding tasks including lifting up to 75 pounds, climbing ladders, working on rooftops, and accessing tight spacesStrong attention to detail with commitment to quality workmanship and safety protocolsEffective communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical personnelAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and as a collaborative team memberFlexibility to respond to after-hours emergencies and participate in on-call rotationCommitment to maintaining required licenses, certifications, and continuing education requirementsOur Equal Employment Opportunity Policy The company is an equal opportunity employer.
