The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is seeking a pediatric speech-language pathologist to provideinpatient dysphagia, speech, and language services to a varied population of infants and children with neurological, developmental, and medically based communication and feeding/swallowing disorders.Job responsibilitiesincludeprovidinginpatientandoutpatient clinical based assessments and intervention,performingvideo-fluoroscopicswallowstudies, consultingwith medical and therapy personnel, and providingeducation and instruction to patients, families, health care professionals, students, and the community. What you will do
- Patient Care:
- Independently evaluates patients with known or suspected communication disorders (including speech, language, oral motor dysfunction and dysphagia) using both non-standardized and standardized evaluation tools. Records evaluation findings according to Departmental and Hospital procedures. Refers patients to medical and educational services, when appropriate.
- Develops an individual therapy plan for each assigned patient which includes goals of treatment. Updates goals and records patient progress according to Departmental and Hospital procedures.
- Presents and defends evaluation findings, progress and recommendations to patients, families/significant caregivers, and health care professionals. Instructs family members and caregivers in home therapy programs. Consults with health care and educational staff to promote the patients' communication skills.
- Administration:
- Participates in Departmental or program-based functions (i.e., staff meetings, continuing education activities, work group meetings/committees, Quality Improvement projects, development and refinement of clinical protocols and equipment/supplies maintenance and ordering).
- Education:
- Teaches within the Department, Hospital, professional community, and non-professional community.
- Provides consultative services outside of the Hospital setting.
- Maintains and updates professional knowledge and skills by completing a minimum of 10 clock hours of continuing education during each fiscal year.
- Provides clinical observation opportunities and educational supervision to students, fellows, and/or training to other staff, as assigned, after completing appropriate professional development requirements
Education Qualifications
- Master's Degree Speech-Language Pathology - Required
Experience Qualifications
- At least two (2) years Licensed experience - Required
- At least one (1) year Licensed experience in pediatric medical-based setting - Preferred
- Dysphagia experience - Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Speech & Language Pathology License (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - within 3 months - Required and
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) - American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) - upon hire - Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Issued through an organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - within 3 months - Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- High level of analytical skill in order to work independently to identify and plan for the resolution of problems encountered in clinical and research duties. (Required proficiency)
- High level of skill in various assessment procedures pertaining to speech, language and swallowing skills in the pediatric population. (Required proficiency)
- Interpersonal relationship skills to support effective communication with patients and families, as well as other medical professionals. (Required proficiency)
- Fundamental research knowledge including a general understanding of research methodology, design, and statistics. (Required proficiency)

SALARY RANGE:
$83,700.00 - $106,700.00 AnnuallySalary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
