Position Summary

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a vital member of Claratel's interdisciplinary care team, responsible for implementing evidence-based behavioral interventions to support individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and other behavioral health needs. Under the close supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), the RBT provides direct one-on-one and group services aimed at increasing functional skills, reducing maladaptive behaviors, and improving overall quality of life for the individuals we serve.

This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, detail-oriented, and eager to make a measurable impact in the lives of individuals and families in the community.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Client Support

• Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) designed by the BCBA.

• Collect accurate, real-time data on behaviors, skill acquisition, and treatment outcomes.

• Provide individualized instruction in areas such as communication, social skills, adaptive skills, academic readiness, and coping strategies.

• Assist clients with daily living tasks, self-care routines, and community navigation as outlined in treatment plans.

Behavior Intervention & Clinical Support

• Utilize ABA strategies including reinforcement procedures, discrete trial training (DTT), natural environment teaching (NET), functional communication training (FCT), and behavior reduction techniques.

• Maintain professional and ethical boundaries in accordance with the BACB Guidelines for Responsible Conduct.

• Support crisis intervention and stabilization strategies under guidance from clinical supervisors.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with BCBAs, clinicians, nursing staff, and the broader support team to ensure continuity of care.

• Communicate session results, client progress, and any concerns to supervising BCBAs in a timely and accurate manner.

• Build positive, supportive relationships with individuals served, caregivers, and family members.

Administrative & Compliance Duties

• Complete all required documentation, progress notes, and data submission within designated timelines.

• Uphold confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and Claratel's internal policies and procedures.

• Participate in mandatory training, competency assessments, and staff development opportunities.

Qualifications

Required:

• Active RBT certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)

• Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and all onboarding compliance requirements.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental or behavioral challenges.

• Ability to lift 50+ pounds, perform physical prompting, and support clients during crisis interventions, as needed.

Preferred:

• Experience working in a behavioral health or developmental disability setting.

• Familiarity with electronic health record systems (EHRs) and data collection software.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Work occurs across multiple community-based settings including clinics, homes, day programs, and supported living environments.

• Full-time and part-time schedules available, including daytime, evening, and weekend shifts depending on program needs.

• May involve travel between Claratel locations within DeKalb County.

Pre-employment drug screening and successful completion of a criminal history background check is required.
